Meteorology conditions and extreme daily temperature differences in the urban climate of Curitiba city
Keywords:

To better understand the thermal variation in Curitiba, this study aimed to analyze the intensity of thermal intra-urban differences and its relation to the meteorological conditions on the dates of monitoring. The collection of data on air temperature were gathered in 44 monitoring points at fixed locations in the urban area of Curitiba, in four campaigns, each lasting 22 days in periods corresponding to the seasons of the year in the months of February, May, August and November 2011. With the data collected averages were calculated and obtained the absolute maximum and minimum values and those calculated from the differences between the extreme daily temperature monitoring points. To detect the relationship between the thermal differences and meteorological conditions on the dates of monitoring was carried out statistical analysis using Pearson's correlation. In all dates were found thermal differences above 1°C, indicating the occurrence of urban heat islands. Statistical analysis showed the ratio of the intensities of thermal variation in meteorological conditions during the observation periods, especially with the relative air humidity and cloudiness.Downloads
