Abstract

This work is the result of a research proposal that aimed to investigate how the debate involving the work of Mendeleev and Meyer, contributors to the development of the Periodic Table (PT), is explored in Textbooks of Chemistry (TC's) PNLD 2012. The methodology used in the development of this work involved the interpretative analysis of texts, images and present boxes in textbooks, then the categorization of assessments made. The analysis of the historical debates involved in the drafting of PT can be identified in TC's presented by PNLD 2012, especially those that express the development of the study of the PT, even though chronologically contributions of scientists who sought to propose an organizational arrangement for chemical elements. It is noteworthy that among the TC's just a made inference to the existence of the debate between theoretical approaches related to the process of elaboration of the Periodic Table, explaining the merits given as the Mendeleev Periodic Law.
