Analysis of the lumber industry in the municipality of Barra do Shack - BA

With the growing demand for lumber in recent years, the study of timber supply chain is of fundamental importance for better management of the sector. Therefore, the objective of this study was to characterize the profile of the segment of lumber, since the origin of raw materials, market and marketing in the region and the generation of waste in industrial wood processing in the municipality of Barra do Choça- BA. Data were obtained through interviews with questionnaires to all responsible for logging the municipality. The aspects analyzed contemplated the origin of the raw material, the purpose and use of wood waste materials, as well as the final destination. We observed an average consumption of 312.5 m3 of wood in 2008, this being mostly planted forests. There was an average consumption of 312.5 m3 of wood in 2008, with the majority coming from planted forests. Also observed a low recovery of waste generated in the establishments.Downloads
