Cinema and Astronomy: reflections on the movie Apollo 13 as a didactic resource for Science Teaching

Faced with a teaching that values memorization and the consequent fragmentation of knowledge, it becomes essential to think of new learning strategies aimed at the use of students in the school environment. Thus, the audiovisual resources emerge as a possibility to work the content of nature scientific. In addition, the insertion of Astronomy topics in front of this approach enables the understanding of scientific concepts, mainly due to its interdisciplinary character responsible for integrating different areas of knowledge. Therefore, the study aimed to analyze the reflections on the use of the movie Apollo 13 as a didactic resource for the approach of the topics related to Astronomy in Science Teaching.For this purpose, a qualitative research was developed, from the application of a short course on these issues, directed to 20 participants from different areas of formation. Thus, a data collection instrument was used to raise the reflections of the participants, and the data subsequently categorized by a technique of content analysis. Therefore, participants pointed out that the intersection between Astronomy and audiovisual resources provide important contributions to Science Teaching, such as: assist in understanding scientific concepts, arouse the interest of students and make learning more dynamic. Therefore, it is fundamental to approach these elements in the teaching and learning process, since they help´students in critical and reflective development in the face of the reality experienced.
