Abstract

The potential usefulness of snake skin  Boa constrictor  as a model membrane for percutaneous drug release was examined. There are similarities between shed snake skin and human stratun corneum en terms of structure, composition, lipid content, water permeability, etc. Considering the similariries snake skin and human skin the  Boa constrictor was used as a barrier for an  in vitro permeation, the indomethacin was selected as a model of drug, indicated narrower variation of results  in coefficients of variation and reproductibility of permeation profiles.
