The Professional Education In Brazil: from technicism to the citizenship construction

Nowadays due to the intense questioning on the issues of technicist work and of education for the sole purpose of memorization, it is possible to notice that Professional Education has been acquiring new perspectives. The focus, now, is to prepare the students for the working environment; in other words, the technical knowledge of the future profession must be built along with more humanistic contents and practices, which will have as a goal the overall formation of the scholars and prepare them to be critically active members in the society they live in. So, in this article, we will present a short history of the consolidation of the Professional Education in Brazil, as well as the first analysis that the research project entitled Investigating the Professional Education did on the overall formation curricular performance of the students who seek the technical courses offered by the IFRS – Campus Rio Grande.Downloads
