Vitamin C is essential to health, and as an antioxidant compound, it can prevent cancer, colds and anemia. The fruits that contain important amounts of this vitamin are oranges, pineapple, Indian cherry (acerola), strawberry, cashew, mango, among others. Depending on the high-speed of lifestyle nowadays, many people do not consume a diverse amount and variety of fruits, which can causes vitamin deficiency. To supplement the intake of ascorbic acid, many foods have shown this nutrient addition. Among these foods are powdered soft drinks. This research aimed to examine the levels of ascorbic acid in powdered lemon and orange flavored refreshment. Ascorbic acid levels in the powdered soft lemon samples ranged from 5.66 to 10.19 mg 100mL-1. For the orange-flavored powdered drinks, the vitamin C content ranged from 5.66 to 10.31 mg 100 mL-1. The results indicate that ascorbic acid is added to the powdered soft drinks, and the values were higher than those shown in the packaging of powdered juice.
