Several methodological propositions were operationalized with the purpose of measuring sustainability at various scales, from local to global. One of them is the use of sustainability indicators, tools that enable you to measure the development of socioeconomic activities and the anthropogenic changes in a particular system and communicate in a simplified way, the state of this in relation to the criteria and targets to evaluate the sustainability. The present study aimed to subsidize a way to measure the sustainability of farm families within the agroextractive context, focusing on the analysis of the social dimension. Fifteen indicators of social sustainability divided into two categories were selected: access to basic public services and social organization. The evaluation results showed weaknesses and strengths in the Agroextractive context, as well as the formation of low rates of sustainability in the category of social organization.
