Lipid profile and glucose levels in truck drivers of the central region of Rio Grande do Sul

The presents study evaluate the glycemic and lipid profile among truck drivers in the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. A cross sectional observational study with 91 truck drivers were evaluated for risk behavior and the levels of serum glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL cholesterol, LDL (Friedewald formula). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with support from the software Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and presented through proportions. It was observed dyslipidemia in 79.2% (n = 72) participants, 13,18% (n = 12) of hyperglycemia and associated in 10% (n = 9). In relation to the habits, 80.2% (n = 73) reported being sedentary, 19.8% (n = 18) were smokers and 52.7% (n = 48) used alcohol frequently.The lack of physical activity and eating habits of truck drivers involved in the professional activity reported by them are not sufficient to make healthy habits and maintain good quality of life.Downloads
