Abstract

This paper describes a calculation mechanism obtained from experimental data of the ASTM and d20/4 curves, to determine the volumetric expansion. For the study were considered historical (experimental) data samples of Naphtha, Diesel and Kerosene obtained directly from distillation, and produced in a Brazilian refinery. The data consists of a record for a period of one year processing, considering the different loadings used for this production. The calculation and selection of the data were performed in routine idealized in Excel©. The results were within the ranges indicated by the literature, in terms of magnitude, but with deviations of less than 20% of the values listed for consideration in the projects. To the streams analyzed for over 700 experimental analyzes values between 10.9 to 13.9.10-4°C-1 were obtained to the coefficient of thermal expansion, which are compatible with the data available in the literature, for currents naphtha, diesel and kerosene. The models showed adjustments with determination coefficients of about 99.9%. The adoption of such a calculation mechanism is fairly simple (considering data already available in the refinery control systems) and adds a good correction for the parameters
prediction to be used in designs and sizing of safety valves (PSV).
