Sexuality in adolescence: between desire and fear

This study aimed to evaluate the general aspects of sexuality in teenagers, making an approach to practice and initiation of sexual desire. A transversal, descriptive and quantitative. The sample corresponded to 91 adolescent students of both sexes, aged between 14 and 19 years. The data was collected via a questionnaire. We found that 85.7% of teens said they get information about sexuality, and informal conversations among friends (36.2%) the main source. Regarding the age of manifestation of sexual desire, there was 12.25 years for men and 14.1 years for women. The majority of boys (91%) and girls (55.3%) reported having an active sex life, being preoccupied with STDs and marriage the main factors that prevented the sexual initiation. It is suggested, therefore, the deployment of topics on sexual and reproductive health aimed at teenagers in the study.Downloads
