Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) is an important agricultural product for producing countries and is the raw material for the production of sugar and alcohol. Its production cycle demands a significant volume of water which, due to climatic factors, can suffer from water scarcity and compromise the productivity of the commodity and its co-products. The objective of this study is to analyze the consumption of irrigated water in the main sugarcane-producing municipalities in Sergipe. The methodology used has an exploratory character, of a qualitative and quantitative nature, with secondary data collection, bibliographical research and delimitation of the study area. Data analysis demonstrated a lack of synchrony between the area of sugarcane fields, the volume produced and the consumption of irrigated water in the Sergipe municipalities of Laranjeiras, Japaratuba, Maruim, Capela and Siriri, demonstrating that there is a need to readapt the production system to optimize the water resource used in the sugarcane cultivation process. Furthermore, the projection of irrigated water consumption until 2040 demonstrates, together with the historical series of irrigated water consumption for sugarcane in these municipalities, that there is a reduction in water reservoirs while consumption tends to increase. be tall and growing. It was concluded that the five largest sugarcane producing municipalities in Sergipe. However, they have their dynamics and characteristics and have divergences in the relationship between the area occupied by sugarcane fields, the volume produced and the consumption of irrigated water, requiring corrective and analysis of the situation in a way that results in less environmental impact.
