Print media and exposure of the face: the cases of apologies

This article presents as larger survey Printed media and exposure of the face: the cases of apologies and analyzes the apologies as social and discursive practices before the conventions of politeness studied in the field of pragmatics. The work consisted of discussions about the theoretical background, among them the Speech Acts, which deals with linguistic communication as producing effects of and communicative changes, and the collection of editorial errors and their apologies for various magazines. The analysis shows that use of language for social relations and the difficulty that institutions have to portray their failures and take.Downloads
