Abstract

The work has as perspective to present resulted of activities developed by means of the “Project Young Popular: Access and Permanence in the University”, focando more specifically the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). It analyzes the meanings of “being a university student” for young of popular origin, the strategies integrators that they adopt to insert itself in the academic world, the conditions of insertion in the superior level, the daily life of these students, strategies of permanence in  the University, beyond identifying possible institucional actions that can supply the extended insertion of these young in the academic world. One is about a qualitative boarding, carried through in two stages, in which, readings of texts and election of the interviewed ones had been carried through parallel.
