This paper evaluated how climate change is being approached in the nature science textbooks approved in PNLD 2021 and made available to high school classes in Sergipe public schools. For this purpose, a content analysis of the textbook collection “Moderna Plus” was carried out. The appraisal has shown that, from the six books of the collection, only two books approach aspects of climate change. It was also perceived, the lack of a regional approach and, the presentation of contradictions and controversies over the subject, bringing a superficial perspective on climate change. It is recommended a continuous process of reviewing and updating the content on the books, continuing education of teachers, and the use of active methodologies, to contextualize and bring students closer to climate matters.
