Abstract

The amazonita is a mineral variety of green potassium feldspar, with chemical formula (KAlSi3O8) and triclinic crystalline structure. Studies on the thermoluminesce (TL) of amazonita showed two peaks, one around 170°C and another at 240°C, and indicated that such material could be used in dosimetry of high doses or in archeological dating. However, the thermoluminescence dosimetry is based on the peaks lifetime, and as its prediction is based on the kinetics activation energy (Et), frequency factor (s) and in order kinetics (b), their determination is of remarkable importance to make a safe prognosis of the accumulated dose in any mineral using TL. Therefore, in this work has been applied a method to find the kinetic parameters of amazonita and with them to determine the lifetime of each TL peak.
