The world aquaculture has stood out among the animal protein production chains, with rapid growth, contributing significantly to the generation of employment and income, in addition, despite all the difficulties encountered in 2020, continued growth in various parts of the world. The objective of this work was to present and compile data on fish farming production in the state of Maranhão. The work has an exploratory character and uses the bibliographic research method, quali-quantitative, through a data survey through consultation of official platforms from a chronological approach of fish farming production that took place from January 2013 to March 2021 This compilation of data confirms the growth of the state of Maranhão in recent years in the country's fish farming scenario. In the last 4 years, it accumulated growth of 97.52%, from a production of 24,150 tons in 2016 to reach 47,700 tons in 2020, gaining a prominent position in the national production chain. And because the state has adequate environmental characteristics for the development of fish farming activities, combined with the expressive production of grains and recent tax incentives from the state government, makes it a potential candidate for us in the coming years to consolidate itself as a great producer of cultivated fish and probably take the first place in the production of native fish in Brazil.
