The twenty years of cold (con)fusion
Keywords:
cold fusion, mystery, publicityAbstract
The cold fusion was spread out twenty years ago as the biggest scientific research ever made, but it became a great mystery, a disappointing interrogation mark, nobody knows what could have happened if it were true. The public treatment was called attention to the question (not only in Brazil but also abroad). It was followed by the press as if it were a championship or a controversial judgment. Specific articles can be found on the newspaper published from March to June 1989 (Folha de S. Paulo, O Estado de S. Paulo, Jornal do Brasil, O Globo). One can find typical misunderstanding of unprepared newsmen due to the complexity of the subject matter (favoring the journalists, scientists think the same way even among physicals and chemists).Downloads
