Luminescence of EuOCl doped acetate glass
Keywords:
Acetate glass, DSC, EuOClAbstract
The 1% and 2% EuOCl doped Lithium-Sodium acetate glass (LN21, 2:1 mol %) has been prepared by thesol-gel proteic method and characterized by DSC and emission techniques. The DSC measurements haveshown that the stability of the glass does not change with the doping percentages, because no sensitivedifference between Tg and Tx has been observed. The local environment of the Eu3+ ion has not changeafter the preparation, because the position of the typical emission lines of the doping specie (5D0 - 7FJ,J=0,1,2,3 e 4 ) are the same when compared to the emission spectrum of the pure EuOCl. This is alsocorroborated because the transition intensities have been enhanced in the same ratio of the percentage ofthe dopiness. A dominant phase is assigned after the glass formation, as only one well defined meltingpoint around 181° was observed. The hygroscopic feature of the acetate glass however is the inconvenientbehavior of this matrix, because this suppresses the 5D0 - 7F2 transition intensity through the O – Hvibration modes.Downloads
