Chemical control of weeds in monocotyledonous cultivation of sesame

Aimed to evaluate the effects of post-emergence applications of herbicide quizalofop-p-ethyl in monocotyledons weeds control on yield components and phytotoxicity to the crop of sesame (Sesamum indicum L. cv. BRS 196). The experiment was installed following a factorial (3 x 2) + 2 additional witnesses, three application times (15, 30 and 45 days after crop emergence) and two doses of the herbicide (1.5 and 2.0 L.ha-1), along with the witnesses (not weeded and weeded) for analysis of variables: yield and yield components, and 3 x 2 factorial analysis for the variables: weed control and phytotoxicity in a randomized block design with 4 replicates. To obtain the data of variables: phytotoxicity and weed control, was used the scale of the European Weed Research Council (EWRC), which is based on visual methods for evaluating whether the degree of control of the herbicides and theevaluations were conducted after seven days of each application. The results showed that the herbicide caused no visual symptoms of phytotoxicity to sesame. It was also found that the two dosages used, herbicide application until 30 days after crop emergence was sufficient to control monocotyledons weeds.
