The present work had as objective to develop and construct a vertical oscillation device to determine the stability of soil aggregates in water. To build the device, called DEA/TP-09, we used steel plates and angles, a 559W 1720 rpm electric motor with a 1:53 reducer, elevation system consisting of crankshaft with 0.045 m stroke, connecting rod, bearings, universal joint and a sieve set. DEA/TP-09 showed a 0.00001 m error in determining the pondered mean diameter. Its cost was lower than that of commercial equipment, as old parts were used in the construction and because the design was developed seeking an economic structure and quality productDownloads
