Abstract

The research aimed to ascertain the species of medicinal plants of the cerrado are marketed by salespeople and tricksters in the city of Teresina (PI). To perform the same, it was made use of questionnaires that were applied to "salespeople" who sell medicinal plants in the central market of the city. The study recorded 50 species belonging to 49 genera and 89,2% of the plants sold are of the moors in Piaui, while 10,8% were belonging to the state of Maranhão, Ceará and Bahia. The medicinal species of closed most sold and used in the city of Teresina (PI) are: Hancornia speciosa, Eugemia dysenterica, Bowdichia virgilioides, Myracrodruon urundeuva, Amburana cearensis, Caryocar coriaceum, Vernonia ferruginea, Mauritia flexuosa, Ximenia americana, among and others.
