Abstract

The study aims to find out the professional profile of forestry engineers who graduated from the Federal University of Sergipe. A semi-structured questionnaire has been administered, which was sent through email with Google Docs to 135 professionals graduating up to 2011, having 84 of them been properly completed. Most of the respondents (57.14%) are female and live in the State of Sergipe (67.86%). Findings show that the main activities the respondents working in the area carry out at academic level are master degree students (24.42%) and doctoral degree candidates (8.06%). As for the criteria public body (25.8%), it has been found that government sector holds the foremost position (20.97%). When it comes to private sector, companies come first (14.55%), followed by self-employed (9.68%) and social movements (1.61%). The study has concluded that most respondents are in the field, particularly at academic level.

Engenheiro Florestal, Mestre em Agroecossistemas e Doutor em Engenharia Agrícola. Tem experiência em Recursos Florestais, com ênfase em Recuperação de Áreas Degradadas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: controle de erosão em margens de corpos d'água, recuperação de vegetação ciliar, conservação de nascentes, coesão solo-raiz e bioengenharia de solos.

Genésio Tâmara Ribeiro, DCF = UFS

Possui graduação em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1975), mestrado em Ciência Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (1999) e doutorado em Entomologia pela Universidade Federal de Viçosa (2001). Atualmente é professor associado da Universidade Federal de Sergipe. Tem experiência na área de Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal, com ênfase em Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: planatações de Eucalytus, entomologia florestal, pragas florestais, prevenção e controle de incêndios florestais, meio ambiente e silvicultura

Laura Jane Gomes, DCF = Universidade Federal de Sergipe

ossui graduação em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Lavras (1994), mestrado em Engenharia Florestal pela Universidade Federal de Lavras (1998) e doutorado em Engenharia Agrícola pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2002). Atualmente professora associada da Universidade Federal de Sergipe, Departamento de Ciências Florestais. Tem experiência na área socioambiental atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: Planejamento ambiental e áreas protegidas.
