The role of artists and art in the period of Latin American dictatorship

This article presents an overview of how art was organized, decipted and viewed during periods of military dictatorship in countries including Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Uruguay and Chile. The countries are critical to understanding the artistic transfomation of contemporary Latin America, especially with relation to their artistic work responsabilities in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
