A profile of high school students across the mathematics: The case of a college town Itabaiana - Sergipe

This study presents the results of a study intended to profile 83 high school students of a public school, 20 of them would be selected to participate in an extension project on digital inclusion from the perspective of Science, Technology and Society, emphasizing mathematics, at the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS). For data collection we prepared an inspired not only the desired participant profile questionnaire for the project, but mainly on the interests and attitudes that participant forward to math. Was used to analyze the quantitative and qualitative approach and resources of Content Analysis [9]. The results show that most are aware of the importance of mathematics for the workplace, believes that everyone can learn math, not just those who are labeled as smart, but it shows not want to follow the academic career in mathematics and also believes that the computer can be an aid in daily, in academic and professional activities.
