Abstract

The group of research on Applied Linguistics (GPLA) of IFRS Rio Grande Campus developed research projects in 2011 and 2012 aiming, mainly, at cooperating with students to exercise the abilities of reading and writing focusing on the ENEM exams – which are, nowadays, the main way to enter into Higher Education Institutions – and also aiming at practicing the dissertation gender, required in other entrance tests. Such activities happened in distance mode: in the first edition, the course was offered just for the Campus students; in the second edition, members of the community were also accepted, which brought different results to the research. Then, with the dada collected on both editions, it was possible to the GPLA to study the reading habits of the participants, as well as their main difficulties on the practice of writing.  On the same way, we could observe the collaborative learning characteristics, essential for a course like this – online – to succeed. As theoretical bases, the Activity Theories and the Multiliteracy were used.
