Stratification and germination of peach seeds with growth regulator
Keywords:
Prunus persica, giberelic acid, propagation, rootstockAbstract
The effects of the growth regulator were evaluated for peach seeds rootstock 'Okinawa' germination. First an experiment was performed in a refrigerator (3-4ºC), with the seeds were put during 60 days. Then, the seeds were put in a germinator, using as a medium for seed germination filter paper wetted with distiled water. Seeds were treated with giberelic acid during 24 hours. The treatments were: 0 (control); 25; 50; 75 and 100 mg per litre of GA3 on the seeds with and without endocarp. The experimental design was in the subdivided parcels with nine replications and 54 seeds per replication, where the parcels was the GA3 concentrations and the subparcels the days of evaluation after the seeded (22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32 and 34 days). It were evaluated the seeds percentage, time and medium velocity of germination. The results showed that the seeds treated with GA3 54 mg per litre showed the high percentage (68,9%) and the least index germination velocity (0,06 seeds germinated per day), being the medium time germination was the 20 days.Downloads
