Abstract

The aim of this research was analyze the daily periodic variation of the thermal comfort index between streets with and without tree in Curitiba city. Thereunto, three sample containing a street stretch with and without trees were selected, being the street with trees were composed of different species. To monitoring the meteorological variables, mini-stations Kestrel® and heat stress monitor TGD-400 were used.  The data collection daily period was from 9 AM to 3 PM and the monitoring interval was every 1 minute, in the four seasons, starting in winter 2011. The influence on thermal comfort was analyzed using the UTCI. The results indicated that the  street with trees showed better thermal comfort than the street without trees in all seasons, demonstrating the importance of streets trees to the Curitiba. It was concluded that streets with trees provides an urban microclimate more thermally comfortable along the day, in all seasons.
