Urban Environment and Quality of Life - An Analysis (In) Sustainability in the city of Nossa Senhora da Glória/SE

The sprouting of cities without an appropriate infrastructure planning can reflect negatively in life qualityof the inhabitants. The search for urban sustainability has been one of the biggest challenges of presenttime, and such notion has been associated with development and urban policies. The objective of thispaper is to analyse the different aspects of development in the city of Nossa Senhora da Glória/SE, basedon the following indicators: solid wastes, basic sanitation, housing, public health, public education, workand income. The methodology consisted in bibliographical revision, fieldwork, interviews,questionnaires, analysis and data discussion. It was verified that in 51,9% of the visited domiciles thefamily average income ranges between 1 and 2 minimum wages. 24,3% of the streets were not paved andonly 59.3% of the visited domiciles had complete hydraulic installations with reservoir.Downloads
