The synthesis of samples of mordenite were performed using the hydrothermal method using two different types of crystallization seed (mordenite and ferrierite), where they were exploited to change some parameters of the synthesis, such as SiO2/Al2O3 = 20, 60 and 100 and the ratio OH/SiO2 = 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4, at different times of crystallization, at a temperature of 170 °C. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA/DTA), nitrogen adsorption at -196 °C (BET) and temperature programmed desorption of ammonia (NH3-TPD). It was found that the use of the ratio OH/SiO2 = 0.4, together with the seeds of the most MOR and FER crystalline samples were obtained, demonstrating the critical role of mineralizing agent OH- in the middle.
